Tauopathien sind eine Gruppe neurodegenerativer Erkrankungen die zur Demenz führen. Bei manchen Tauopathien besteht auch eine Beeinträchtigung der Motorik. Die häufigste Tauopathie ist der Morbus Alzheimer. Tauopathien sind histopathologisch durch die Akkumulation des Proteins Tau in bestimmten Zelltypen und Regionen des Gehirns charakterisiert. Wir untersuchen mögliche Pathomechanismen, besonders den Zusammenhang zwischen granulovakuolärer Degeneration, einer neurodegenerativen Veränderung der Neurone, und der Tau-Pathologie.
